Jim 'Marco' Marklevitz is the founder of Marco's Hair and Nails. Jim graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School in 1961. He then attended LaMar Barber College in Highland Park, MI and worked as an apprentice for two years. He has a master barber license.
In 1965, Jim partnered with two people to start his first shop called The Place. After 20 years, he sold the shop to start his new venture. In March 1985, Jim fulfilled his dream of opening his own salon, Marco's Hair and Nails, in Kentwood, MI.
His daughter, Rochelle, joined him in March 1990, and since then, they've been partners for almost 10 years. She now runs the salon located at 6630 Kalamazoo Ave SE in the Kentwood area.
With over 50 years of experience in the industry, Jim continues to remain on the cutting edge of current techniques, designs, and trends. He was always fascinated with the artistry of the barber trade.
Jim truly enjoys interacting with clients and having a free-spirited conversation. He loves golf and college football. He has four children, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
He states, "I love coming to work, and my customers are great to me. I don't know what I would do without them!"
Lucinda Ohl is an accomplished stylist who joined the team at Marco's Hair and Nails in 2010. Lucinda specializes in hair cutting, coloring, and formal styling.

Rochelle Arnold, daughter of Jim, has received specialized training in barbering from her father. Rochelle has been working with Marco's Hair and Nails since 1990. She has been partner to Jim and the owner of the salon for over 10 years now.
Rochelle grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Creston High School. She then went on to study business and art at Aquinas College. She earned a degree in cosmetology from the Chic University of Cosmetology in 1990.
Rochelle was quick to discover her passion for hair care and styling when she was in the fifth grade. At the age of 13, she started as a general help at Nancy Lee's Salon of Beauty. She has been greatly inspired by her father, Jim, who is an accomplished barber.
Rochelle is extremely passionate about her work and enjoys making her clients feel and look their absolute best. She is an expert in dimensional hair color, using Italian mesh and foils, as well as Balayage and traditional coloring techniques for both men and women.
She proudly states, "It's been a really special journey working with my dad for years. What a unique experience!"
Sarah Mullin has the dedication, passion, and integrity for exceptional service, artistic vision, and impeccable attention to detail. She always had a passion for hair. Inspired by her aunt, who was also a hairstylist, she enrolled herself at Excel Academy of Cosmetology.
Since then, she has honed her craft, styling both men and women's hair. Prior to joining Marco's Hair and Nails in 2007, she had six years of experience in the field. Sarah is an East Kentwood graduate who grew up in the Kentwood, MI area.
Her focus is on creating a beautiful cut and color, customized for you. Sarah is skilled in blowout styles and finishing work.
As a young girl, Tonja enjoyed watching her grandmother getting her hair set in a salon. She loved the friendly atmosphere, the conversation, and the smell and feel of hair care products.
As an experienced hairdresser, Tonja has honed and developed her skills in perming and haircuts. Her knack for identifying the latest styles and trends is of great value to her clients.
Tonja Murray has been pursuing her passion for hair design, having started her career in the 80s, for a long time. Tonja graduated from Don Roberts School of Cosmetology in Valparaiso, Indiana in 1983.
She has a hairdressing background and is also trained in barbering. Before joining Marco's Hair and Nails in 2005, Tonja worked in Naples, FL and the Cascade, MI area.
Tonja loves the dimensional coloring techniques. She loves to do all types of hair color and cuts and also enjoys doing manicure and pedicure with shellac finishes. She is skilled in formal styling for special events and bridal parties.
Her main focus as a hairstylist is to connect with her clients and make sure that she gives them the best possible hair experience. Tonja has two children. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking pictures, and walking with her dog, Charlie.
She states, "Listening to my customers and working with them to create their unique style is what it is all about!"
